Zakopane is one of Poland’s best-known tourist resorts. The beautiful nature and the wonderfully developed sports base with ski lifts and routes for biking and trekking encourages tourists to relax in an active way.
Furthermore, the capital of the Tatra mountains fascinates tourists with highlander folklore and stylish wooden architecture. The Giewont mountain towering over the town adds even more flavor to the atmosphere.
This atmosphere, together with the interesting cultural offer and the landscapes of the Tatras are Zakopane's greatest riches.
Why Zakopane?
Name “Zakopane” appears first time in a document of king Zygmunt III Waza from 1630. It has origin in the old Polish word Za Kopane which meant the area grubbed up for glade.
In Zakopane, the season for active leisure is open all year round.
The most popular offers are alpine and cross-country skiing, high-mountain trekking, rock climbing, mountain biking and rafting on mountain streams.
Apart from sports and leisure, our guests can enjoy many historic buildings and a rich cultural offer.
Skiing
Crocus Hotel is an excellent base for skiing aficionados. It is fabulously located really close to Nosal skiing complex and the lower station of the cable-railway to Kasprowy Wierch.
Active tourism
One of many, and possibly the most attractive way of spending time is trekking along the tourist routes of Tatra National Park.
The cable-railroad makes it possible to ride up to Kasprowy Wierch while watching the panorama of the mountains from aboard the modern gondola-style car.
A less common pastime is rafting down one of Poland's most beautiful rivers - Dunajec.
Historic monuments, culture and art
